Let’s be honest — we’ve all watched those “What’s in My Bag” videos and thought, do people really carry all that stuff every day?
Well, today I’m laying it all out. No fancy props. No random items that mysteriously look unused. Just real tech I actually carry, use, and (in some cases) rely on way more than I’d like to admit.
But here’s the twist: my tech bag changes depending on the kind of day I’m having.
Some days are packed with meetings, errands, coffee shop hopping, or even quick hikes. Other days? I’m glued to a screen, surrounded by chargers and open tabs.
So I’m breaking this down into two simple categories:
🔹 Active days — when life’s a hustle
🔹 Routine days — when it’s just you, your laptop, and a quiet café
To keep things helpful, I’ll drop Amazon links for the gear I mention (if I can find them).
If something’s not linked — well, that’s your cue to embrace the noble art of Googling 🙂
Let’s dive in.

🏃♂️ Active Day Setup — When Life Doesn’t Let You Sit Still
There are days when your tech bag needs to work harder than you do. You’re running errands, hopping on transit, maybe hiking through the woods, maybe just trying to survive a full day in the city without a single power outlet in sight. For days like this, my tech essentials are all about battery life, mobility, and being ready for anything.
Here’s what usually ends up in my backpack when I know I won’t be home (or near a charger) for the next 12 hours:
Power Bank – A chunky one. The kind that can charge your phone, earbuds, and even your friend’s phone when theirs inevitably dies.
[👉 Buy on Amazon]Smartwatch with cellular + GPS – I switch between the Apple Watch Ultra and my old Garmin depending on the vibe. Both can track my location, notify me of texts, and make me feel like I’m in a spy movie.
[👉 Buy on Amazon]Shokz OpenRun or JBL Tour earbuds – For calls on the go or just zoning out with music. The battery lasts forever. Or at least it feels that way.
[👉 Buy on Amazon]Water Bottle with UV Filter – Sounds a bit over the top until you’re in the middle of nowhere and your only water source looks… questionable.
[👉 Buy on Amazon]Foldable Bluetooth Keyboard / e-ink notebook – Because sometimes, even outdoors, ideas strike. And I like writing them down without draining my phone battery.
[👉 Buy on Amazon] , [👉 Buy on ProtoArc]Action Camera or Gimbal – Insta360 GO or Osmo Pocket — tiny, reliable, and perfect for capturing those “spontaneous” moments that totally didn’t take three takes.
[👉 Buy on Amazon] , [👉 Buy on Evogimbals]AirTag (or something similar) – Because I’ve definitely left my backpack on a park bench more than once.
[👉 Buy on Amazon]Mini Drone – Optional, but cool. Especially for camping weekends or hiking trips. Also: who doesn’t like aerial shots of their friends roasting marshmallows?

This setup isn’t about overpacking — it’s about being prepared. It’s my tech version of a go-bag. And yes, I’ve tested most of this gear in the wild (aka my friend’s cottage with terrible signal).

☕️ Chill/Workday Setup
Not every day is a hike or a tech-powered mission across town. Some days are all about slow sips of coffee, inbox zero (or trying), and staring at the screen pretending you’re productive. On those days, I still carry a few essentials that make the 9-to-5 (or more like 10-to-7) a little smoother.
Laptop – MacBook 15 Pro
Light, powerful, and somehow still cool after hours of work. Great battery life, fast performance — my default productivity weapon.
[👉 Buy on Amazon]USB-C Hub – Anker Slim 7-in-1
One laptop, fifteen things to plug in. This hub saves the day without taking up space.
[👉 Buy on Amazon]Smart Notebook – Rocketbook Fusion
Reusable, cloud-connected, and doesn’t make that awful paper sound. Great for notes, sketches, or to-do lists that feel more legit when handwritten.

Smart Pen – Nuwa Pen / Apple Pencil
Nuwa syncs handwriting with digital notes, and Apple Pencil turns any iPad into a sketchpad or notebook. Depends on the mood (and the battery).
[👉 Buy on Nuwa Pen] , [👉 Buy on Amazon]Noise-Cancelling Headphones – Sony WH-1000XM5
Drowns out crying babies, blender noises, or overenthusiastic remote workers. Comfy enough to wear all day.
[👉 Buy on Amazon]Portable SSD – SanDisk Extreme
Reliable, compact, and fast. I use it for backups, large files, or hoarding videos like it’s 2011 again.
[👉 Buy on Amazon]Mini USB Desk Lamp – Ring Light or LED Bar
Makes late-night editing sessions less gloomy. Bonus: I look slightly more alive on Zoom calls.
[👉 Buy on Amazon]Smart Recorder – iFLYTEK Smart Voice Recorder
Whether I’m brainstorming, interviewing, or thinking out loud, this device catches it all. Then magically turns it into searchable notes.

And that’s my tech bag — 2025 edition.
Whether it’s a high-speed, high-stress day or a slow one powered by caffeine and background jazz, these are the smart gadgets I actually carry. Not because they’re trendy (okay, some are), but because they work. They save time, keep me connected, and help me stay on top of things — or at least pretend like I do 😅
If you’re curious about any of the gadgets mentioned, I’ve linked them all above. But if you want the full list — including some extra picks I didn’t squeeze into this post — check out the What We Recommend page on the site.
